Jamie Daves is a Venture Partner at City Light Capital a venture capital firm seeking market-based solutions to major social problems through investments in early stage businesses that create solutions in Safety and Security, Education and Media, and Energy and the Environment.
Prior to joining City Light, Jamie founded and managed Platform Equity LLC, an investment and advisory firm focused on the digital media sector. There, he led investments in companies such as Worldwide Biggies and InStream Global and advised clients such as National Public Radio, Link TV, and The Wrap. Prior to Platform, Jamie joined Vice President Al Gore and Joel Hyatt to found Current Media. A pioneer in the field of user-generated content and social media, Current Media has become the fastest growing cable network in the United States reaching over 50 Million households globally and winning an Emmy in 2007.
Jamie has an extensive background as a social entrepreneur and public servant. He served in the Clinton Administration as a Special Assistant for Policy and Communications at the Federal Communications Commission. Under Chairman William E. Kennard, he focused on a wide range of policy matters including efforts to wire schools and libraries to the Internet, create new broadband services, and define the public interest responsibilities of broadcasters. He worked as the National Youth Director for the 1992 Clinton/Gore Presidential Campaign in Little Rock, AR and helped to lead outreach for the DC-based think tank DLC/PPI. He has been a co-founder of a number of leading non-profit organizations including the Full Circle Fund, Open MIC, and Public Allies and is a frequent speaker on subjects including the democratization of media and technology and social investing and innovation.
Jamie has an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, attended the School of Education at Stanford University, and has a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. He grew up in Washington DC where he attended the St. Albans School and currently resides in New York City.

Toby Daniels is a digital strategist and entrepreneur with a passion for emerging media, technology & social innovation.
Daniels is the Founder and Executive Director of Social Media Week, an international conference, which in Feb 2010 hosted a five day event simultaneously in multiple cities including New York, Berlin, London, San Francisco, Toronto and So Paulo. In total, over 7,500 people attended over 250 events.
Daniels is also the Cofounder and Executive Director of ThinkSocial at the Paley Center for Media, a non profit initiative that is dedicated to advancing public interest activism through emerging media and technology. Since launching in 2009, ThinkSocial has produced numerous events in New York City in addition to a global awards program that honors and recognizes the most innovative uses of social media in the public interest.
Recently, Daniels combined his passion for open innovation and mass collaboration by launching the betacup in partnership with Mutopo. Sponsored by Starbucks, this new initiative aims to reduce paper cup consumption through an open, collaborative design contest.
Prior to launching these new ventures, Daniels headed up business development for Mint Digital’s North American operation and before that he was the Managing Director of Online Creative Communications, a London based digital agency, which he managed for 7 years.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Daniels is also a passionate contributor to a number of non-profit organizations. In 2009 he successfully led the team that was behind NYC Twestival, which was part of a global network of fundraising events in support of charity: water. He is also currently serving on the senior board of CampInteractive, a New York based not-for-profit organization that empowers at-risk, inner-city youth through the inspiration of the outdoors, and the creative power of technology.
